In season 1, we started to establish the scaffolding for what Shiny Object Social Club would become. 🏗

We knew signalling to builders, creators, curators and web3 enthusiasts would bring a high level of talent together to collaborate and strengthen the community.

As we enter the second season we’re doubling down on how we can streamline collaboration between members and partnerships, as well as share our knowledge with the rest of the world.

One of the many things Shiny Object Social Club excelled at in the first season was maintaining a high signal to noise ratio. We intend to continue that streak and make sure that we’re always a place where you’d want to spend your time and energy.

Here’s what we’re focusing on to strengthen the Shiny community:

While Shiny members who held magpies in their wallets had access last quarter, we’ve worked out a new arrangement that has extend the benefit to feather holders as well. Once word got out, we minted out all of the initial 1000 feathers by the end of January.

Here are the details of the partnership:

For Shiny Feather holders, you will get 1 year of access to SuperSea following a 'time held' period that is depending on the type of Feather NFT you hold.

• Glass unlocks SuperSea immediately (once live).
• Iridescent after 15 day held.
• Gold after 30 days held.
• Copper after 45 days held.
• Metal after 60 days held.

The holding period begins on the day the feather enters your wallet. If you transfer your feather, this waiting period will reset. If you sell your feather, you will lose access to SuperSea.

Dose are a mental fitness initiative who will be providing their approach to building healthy habits and improve soft skills that are usually lacking in the web3 space. Beyond just mental health, Dose’s approach has been in demand, and served fortune 500 clients. Shiny will be the fist web3 focused collective they’ve partnered with.

On The Tools is the largest and most engaged construction community in the world with over 6 million followers

Their community was Co-created by @OTTbossman (Shiny Member) for the purpose of improving the lives of Tradespeople, now they want to get a million Tradies into the world of NFT's. And Shiny is going to help them! Tradies will be a multi-drop ecosystem that will see 10% of mint sales and secondary sales go to the Shiny Treasury forever! All Shiny members will have a guaranteed WL and access to the exclusive discord.

This is just the beginning on how we intend to approach partnerships, and it’s one of the many things that separates Shiny Object Social Club from other collective's in the web3 space. Expect more partnerships and more value for members in the coming months

A Shinier experience ✨

As we find ways to collaborate better externally, we are also working to make things more streamlined internally.

Here’s some of the areas we’re focusing on:

On-boarding

A vast majority of DAOs struggle with on-boarding new members, while helping them get situated. This common pain point was taken up for review by Shiny members Kiwifruit and Hathr0 who collaborated and took the initiative to reassess how SOSC could improve this process.

This season we put those lessons to work to make sure we’re offering the best experience from top to bottom.

Member Collaborations

We have so many talented people in our midsts, it only makes sense to double down on how we can streamline collaboration. Who’s working on what is something we’re striving to bring clarity to, and common collaborative tools such as Notion can only take things so far.

One of our many priorities this season will be to improve this process with in-house tooling, along side other emerging web3 applications.

Events and Workshops

Shiny member @LocalTourist has been instrumental in spotlighting other members and the projects they’ve been building. This has been a staple of Shiny since it started. Members get to hear first hand how web3 and NFT products are built and launched, including the lessons learned along the way. The roster of guests continues to grow, as Shiny Object Social Club continue’s it representation of creative and strategic builders this season.

Shiny beyond Discord

We are currently in the midst of building out our front end so we are less reliant on Discord to communicate and share our work with the rest of the world. In a true collaborative effort, Shiny members have helped asynchronously build this out. While the site is currently in beta, we intend to have this live in the coming weeks.Features include:

• A bounty board to take on tasks within Shiny, and build an on-chain resume
• Educational resources for members to learn about the latest trends and strategies in the web3 space
• An archive of community build sessions, with interviews and product walkthroughs of everything ranging from NFT tools, to Web3 native apps and projects.

Learning on-chain the Shiny way

So much about what makes Shiny special is how we’ve approached learning and collaborating. Watching other trailblazers in this space such as RabbitHole tackle this topic has inspired us to also help on-board those from web2 into web3, and have fun while doing it. Expect more from us this season as we collaboratively build this out together.
