Shiny Digest no10 - 01.24.2022

Hey fren 👋
Welcome to the 10th edition of the SHINY digest, a weekly newsletter where we share updates on the Shiny DAO, highlights and meaningful discussions from the Shiny discord and recaps from the live-events.

🎵 If you prefer listening to the audio version of this newsletter, you can subscribe (and listen) to it here or in your favorite podcast player.

  • SHINY and SuperSea have partnered up to provide feather owners with access to one of the must have tools to have in the arsenal of keen NFT buyers and traders. For Shiny Feather holders, you will get 1 year of access to SuperSea following a 'time held' period that is depending on the type of Feather NFT you hold. Learn more here.
  • We added SHINY events to the new (alpha/beta/v.0.0.1) site. Check it out and start marking your calendars!
  • Calling all bounty hunters 🚨 we’ve launched a SHINY bounty board. See what’s available and earn that SHINY coin.

  • @The🐐.eth was thinking of selling their Bored Ape, which created an interesting conversation on whether it was worth it or not in these conditions. Both @Ozzy and @The🐐.eth believe that it brings you back a decent amount of money to diversify into other assets**,** where ****as @Danidr, @catty and @Dith believe it’s a great store of value and brings you social proof as well. You can follow the whole conversation here.
  • @Practical Principles started an interesting discussion on hyped projects. Mekaverse was a super hyped project that had a huge following and initially went to 8ETH in the first few hours after mint until it crashed back down all the way to 1ETH floor. Will it be the same for Invisible Friends, which is also a very hyped project that is upcoming. @b13l believes that people need to see past the “mekaverse vibes” for every hype project and that we shouldn’t dismiss them immediately just because tons of folks are excited about it. You can follow the rest of the discussion here.
  • @curtisjcummings launched the new site for Floor Generation 3.
  • @cg has written an article on NFTs and is looking for your feedback.
  • @KyleArmitage has written his first article on crypto and NFTs.
  • @just.a.thoughtful.gorilla and @joel recently launched their Pixit Degenerative Art platform.
  • @Zuhair is working on a Shark Tank DAO idea, and looking for your feedback.

  • @Pet, @curtisjcummings and @chrismaddern published the 2nd Floorcast podcast, featuring @Dith's Pixel Doods launch.
  • @Pet has reached 750 subscribers on his Sporting Crypto newsletter.
  • @Origin’s project, Davinci, allows you to mutate your NFTs with AI. Davinci launched earlier this week and sold out! Congrats!
  • @Jac sold a majority stake in his company, which means web3 is about to get Jac’d ;-).
  • @emmettarmstrong wrote an article on how to run a successful NFT project.
  • @shane 's Beyond.so project is announcing an airdrop coming soon.
  • Coinbase announces their partnership with Mastercard. This seems like a great partnership that will eventually allow a broader group of people to be able to buy NFTs through normal credit cards.
  • On the back of OpenSea’s latest $300M in funding comes news that they have acquired Dharma, a platform that helps people convert fiat to crypto more easily. Looks like OpenSea and Coinbase are in the race to eat each other’s cake.
    • With the Dharma acquisition, the CEO of the project, Nadav Hollander, announced that he would become the CTO of OpenSea following the acquisition and made a thread detailing his priorities. @trist shares a tweet mentioning that a small detail from the thread hasn’t seem to hit people: It looks like OpenSea has plans on releasing a token.
  • Instagram has announced that they are now internally testing its NFT showcasing features. This is just a small portion of Meta’s plan to expand into the metaverse. They also announced that the teams are building their own NFT marketplace, where users will be able to make, showcase and even sell NFTs.
  • NFT holders can finally showcase that they actually own their NFT on Twitter through the Twitter Blue subscription. You can connect your wallet through Twitter and it’ll be verified by showing a hexagon instead of a circle on your profile picture.
  • @CCollector is pretty bullish on the Nudie Community, especially after hearing the team speak on Twitter and knowing that they are a female-led doxxed team with a good following on TikTok and Instagram. However, later in the week, the floor crashed after the community saw some hiccups in the rendering of some of the artwork.
  • Making the rounds this week in the SHINY discord is Gem, an NFT aggregator that enables you to buy multiple NFTs with any token and (supposedly) less gas.
  • $OHM has had a huge crash over the past few weeks, which left a lot of people wondering if it was actually a ponzi after all? @Dwayne “The Jock” Ronson shares a thread explaining the whole Olympus crash-saga.
  • A lot of members had very high hopes for Wess and the Galactic Apes project, but turns out it was a rug after all. After months of promising missions and other cool features, Wess (the founder) sold the project to Space Yeti’s while leaving only 100K in the project wallet after making millions over the duration of the project. @Dith reached out to the space yeti team to see if the community can support them. You can follow some of the conversation here and find more details in the Galactic Apes thread.
  • It feels like we need to mention it every week, but once again there has been some Shiny sweeping on the Poolsuite floor. @b13l lead the charge with other Shiny members following suit. Let’s just hope that we don’t get rugged as we did with Gapes (too soon?)
  • NFT holders can finally showcase that they actually own their NFT on Twitter through the Twitter Blue subscription. You can connect your wallet through Twitter and it’ll be verified by showing a hexagon instead of a circle on your profile picture.
  • A lot of Shiny members got the WL for Cryptobatz, Ozzy Osbourne’s project, but most members sold right before reveal at around 1.8-2.0ETH.
